Observe the mold growing from the rotting wall behind the tile. This is typical of an aging shower or tub surround. As you clean this it just grows back.

We repair a lot of bathrooms. Most of these repairs are in the showers or the tub surrounds. This is because this is where most of the bathroom water is used. If you really want to understand the nature of the problems that require repair, go read bathroom remodeling. You will find that there is normal aging and decay of bathrooms and there is improper water handling by both builders and remodeling contractors which leads to premature decay of bathrooms. In either case, the symptoms the homeowner will see is water leakage, mold, or both.

Bathroom Repair as a result of Normal Aging

Most of the repairs that we make are as a result of normal aging. We replace many tub or shower surrounds. That is the largest single repair request we receive.

There are two places you may see other bathroom repair pictures. The first is "Bathroom Pictues" under "Home" above, where you may see before and after repair pictures as well as non-repair pictures. The second is bathroom repair showing before and after pictures.

Bathroom Repair because of Improper Water Handling

Frequently we get called to repair a bathroom and it becomes obvious that there has been a design or construction failure. The shower below is an example of this. This shower, (partially shown) was a huge shower in a huge bathroom in a McMansion with a huge leak. The seam in the shower had come loose (probably poor workmanship by the builder's plumber) and damaged the joists in the crawl space. We repaired the shower by replacing the liner and the tile in the floor and lower walls of the shower. Looks good after repair, doesn't it?

If you go to "bathroom remodeling" above, you will get an opportunity to find other examples of Design and Construction Failure. Look for "examples of improper water handling by builders and remodeling contractors".
